Cream Cheese Olive Dip (Printable)

Creamy blend of cream cheese, sour cream, and chopped olives. Ready in 10 minutes.

# What You Need:

→ Dairy Base

01 - 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
02 - 1/3 cup sour cream

→ Olives

03 - 1/2 cup pitted green olives, finely chopped
04 - 1/2 cup pitted black olives, finely chopped

→ Vegetables & Aromatics

05 - 2 tablespoons green onions, finely sliced
06 - 1 clove garlic, minced

→ Seasonings

07 - 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
08 - 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
09 - 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

# Steps:

01 - Place softened cream cheese and sour cream in a medium mixing bowl. Beat with a spatula or hand mixer until completely smooth and no lumps remain.
02 - Add chopped green and black olives, sliced green onions, minced garlic, fresh parsley, lemon juice, and black pepper to the creamed mixture. Fold together until all ingredients are evenly distributed throughout.
03 - Taste the dip and add additional pepper or lemon juice if desired. The mixture should be tangy and well-balanced.
04 - Transfer dip to a serving bowl. Cover and refrigerate for minimum 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours. Allowing the dip to rest enhances flavor integration.
05 - Remove from refrigerator just before serving. Present chilled alongside crackers, pita chips, or fresh vegetable crudité.

# Expert Hints:

01 -
  • It comes together in literally ten minutes but tastes like you put way more thought into it
  • The texture is ridiculously creamy while the olives provide this satisfying briny bite that keeps everyone coming back
02 -
  • I once skipped the chilling step because I was in a rush, and the flavors just hadn't married yet, it tasted like ingredients instead of a cohesive dip
  • Chopping your own olives instead of buying prechopped makes a massive difference in texture, you get these satisfying little bursts instead of mush
03 -
  • Room temperature cream cheese is nonnegotiable here, cold cream cheese leaves you with tiny lumps that never fully disappear
  • A sprinkle of smoked paprika on top before serving adds this gorgeous color and subtle smoky note
